Salt water tank maintennance?

Hi all - we've recently set up a salt water tank. It's my strong belief you should never keep animals in any level of discomfort - so am trying to be very careful not to overstock. We have a 160L tank and currently have two clown fish, one pacific blue tang, two anenomes (can't spell that to save my life), two corals, five snails and some live rock along with some weeds to hide in. I'd love to get just one more fish - do readers feel that is advisable? Also, re: the behaviour of the tang - we got the 1st anen... whatever and clown fish first and waited an additional week before introducing the corals/tang/anem... erm. We're reliably informed our water quality is excellent. We have a thriving colony of salt water fleas etc. My point - when introducing the clown fish they behaved as I'd expect an animal to do when abruptly placed in a new environment - they stuck to the centre of the tank where they could easily hide and ate pretty sparingly at first. The tang, however, - it occasionally hides in the weeds but alternates with frenzied swimming up and down the length of the tank in a bobbing fashion as if it were surfing non-existant waves. I was somewhat worried about the amount of food to provide, expecting the tang's appetite would be minimal at first - but I increased the amount of frozen brine shrimp by 1/2 regardless when I fed my pets tonight. The tang immediately chowed nearly all of it (poor clown fish!). I'm very surprised by the tang's enthusiasm, and mildly concerned the fish may bully the clown fish as it becomes more settled. Any advice?

Talking to little cousin about dieting?

today my aunt asked me to talk to my cousin about his eating habits, and loosing weight. He isn't obese, but over the past year and a half his eating habits haven't been the best. He eats a lot of crap, cookiees, loves pasta, dressings, the whole 9 yards. he's gonna be 12 in october, is about 5"2 and anywhere between 125-130 pounds. 1 year old male wants to bite 2 year old female?

We just got him a short time ago and don't know his background except that he was found in the engine of a car. Our female cat who is spayed is very well behaved but the new male who is neutered won't leave her alone even though she has established herself as the dominant one. He's very hyper and chases her everywhere and then tries to mount her and bite her. We have a spray waterbottle that we use to get him to stop and it works temporarily but before you know it he's back for more. Is there anything else that we could try - I have a gut feeling that he was a feral cat who had to fend for himself. Should i lease a convenience store?

I have had a floral and gift shop in a small town for 3 months. It has not done that well and i will be closing it at the end of the month. It is not just me but all the merchants in the town are getting worried because they say they have never seen it this way at this time of yr. My husband wanted to lease a cigarette and convenience type store before i opened this one but at the time it was too much money. Now the lease has come down considerably and it was a thriving store when the owners had it open. They are old and decided to retire.They had it leased to some other couple and they in turn leased it to someone else who they say was on drugs and ruined a lot of things in the store and then stole equipment and left. It has been closed again since about 3 months ago. What equipment that was not stolen is still there. It has a deli which is fully equipped with seating. It has gas pumps and it's main seller was cigarettes. My husband wants me to open it and do the deli and cigarettes and stock the store as a convenience store is. It would take about $25,000 to do this and we would have to get a loan for part of this. I have always worked in these type of businesses and don't mind the work but making flowers is my passion. There are 2 extra rooms that were used as a small apt. that i could run a flower shop from also. I just don't know what to do. The store is on the main interstate with a lot of tourist traffic. It has been open and operating since 1979 until these last people had it. The owners made a good living from it. I just worry about the economy because gas is so expensive and so are cigaretes which will be the mainstay. Although i know people have to have gas and lots of people smoke and are not going to quit. I just can't stand to think i mightt fail again in another store. The lease on this place is only $500 which is cheap for a store like this but then we would have a payment for the loan we would get to help stock the store and i will have to put my rental home up for collateral but the rent i receive from it should pay the payment. My banker says he thinks it will do good because there is no other place from about 5 miles from nearest town with convenince store til the next down which is about 18 miles form this store. Really puzzled on this one.

Maternity leave question - EI?

I am currently on maternity leave and due back in October. However, I am currently studying to become a mortgage broker and will not be returning to my previous job. just a thought and im sorry to pose a question on your question...i took the same approach you did with the dbq. i said they were both completely different...however the documents related to the 1930s didnt help the argument that i wanted to make. only one of them did. so i used 6 documents, 5regarding the 1920s and 1 regarding the 1930s...and then for the 1930s paragraph it was essentially 100% outside information that had nothing to do with the documents. i talked about greater restraints on teh economy, FDR prolonging the depression and how at the end of the decade unemployment rate was still above 20%, bread lines, and just some other info that was unrelated to the docs...it proved my point was totally unrelated to those docs they gave. do you think that was ok?

The original Exorcist seems to have everything you want -- suspense, tension, horror elements, not much violence. If you think about it, it's really quite amazing that such a primitive, outdated way of thinking is so predominant in such an advanced society. This could be applied to other religions and philosophies, of course, but I'm pointing out Christianity because the vast majority of Americans are Christians. And even though most of us non-Christians realize this, I don't think we all put thought into this: I mean, we've got the best science and technology programs in the world and science is advancing so fast and we're learning more and more, and yet the majority of people in our country are not only religious...they also don't believe in evolution! Do I even have to tell other evolutionists what a disgrace to our species these people are? We have absolutely AMAZING thinkers like Stephen Hawking, Albert Einstein, Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, etc. and yet...there are so many people who have these primitive belief systems and completely dismiss the theories that our greatest thinkers work on for years and decades on end, researching and studying and testing and learning and proving and disproving and hypothesizing and learning more...and yet we have people who have barely scratched the surface of a science text book and claim their beliefs are either a) just as valid or b) the only right way....... I mean, I am just astonished that SO MANY people actually still believe this stuff. I'm sorry for the preaching, but man, oh man, it's just...something else. Hopefully people will start to come to their senses a little more, in time.

I have a 4 month old rabbit and he eats just fine, but on the 22nd I adopted a 2 year old rabbit from my local animal shelter. There's nothing wrong with her, she just won't eat pellets. I've been feeding her celery and baby carrots (mostly celery and about two baby carrots a day) because that's the only veggies we have at the moment and we have no fruit right now. I've also been giving her grass from my yard (no pesticides!) and she likes that. She'll eat pretty much anything I give her besides pellets. I've tried hand feeding her, I've tried to force a pellet into her mouth, I've showed her the food bowl multiple times, but she won't eat them no matter what I do. She eats the hay as well. I know quite a lot about rabbits, but I've never heard of a rabbit that won't eat pellets therefore I have no information as to whether or not they can thrive on just hay, veggies and fruits.

Make it short, so only a bit of the song, but long enough to show the judges how well you can sing. Just make sure it isn't too long that would bore everyone. And then if you make it, you would go on to the second round that would be wherever they want it to be, I think its in Hollywood, but I'm not sure. Maybe it is different in whatever country you are in but here in Australia I am currently pregnant with my 3rd child in this country and have been advised always to not introduce solids til 6 months old! Why are my periods so irregular?

I first got my period when I was eleven (Jan. 2007) and they were normal. I waited 28-30 days, and I would menstruate. It would last on average about four days. However, when I was thirteen (Jan, 2009) things started changing. The shortest I would wait for a period is 33 days. I bleed or three or four days, stop, and bleed again off and on for four more days. In February of 2011, I had two periods, none in March, and one again on April 15. How high should ammonia levels get during a tank cycle?

I have a 10 gal tank that initially had 3 fish in it for about a week and 5 days. 2 died after 4 days and i only had 1 fish for about another 4 days during these 4 days i made 15% water changes because i felt ammonia poisoning was the issue. i then bought 2 more fish and finally found a decent in-tank ammonia indicator to at least see if ammonia was increasing, which at the time before placing the 2 fish in read around 0 (the indicator i think may be slightly inaccurate at very low levels, it may show some even if its not there) and stopped doing daily water changes, seeing as it was low/ not present. it has been going up since i added the new 2 fish, which i suppose makes sense. however this is where it gets a little iffy- about 3 days after getting the tank i used some tetra safestart after hearing many good reviews, i gave it a shot. it actually did seem to help. at this point its a little odd- after testing the water earlier today, my ammonia levels are continuing to rise slowly but steadily, right now at .05ppm over the 4 days, but i am also seeing nitrate for the last couple of days at <,= 20 ppm, which would suggest the cycle has been completed. so my question is how high should ammonia levels get with 2 new fish before going down, how long should it increase for, and just for general knowledge at what concentration of ammonia would nitrifying bacteria require to begin to thrive? ps all the fish have been guppies, since the first 2 died all of the others have been very healthy, constantly swimming and schooling and voraciously eating

Hi fellow seniors, do you have any indoor houseplants?

Poinsettias are hard to maintain, so I usually do not keep them. Someone told me to plant it outside while it is warm and bring it back inside during the winter. I have also been told to put one in a basement and just keep it wet and that the leaves will come back out on it. I have never tried it, though. I have had inside plants over the years, gave up on them, and planted them all outside. I pick them and bring them inside for my flowers. In California, they grow year-round. We had some beside our house there. I am not particularly fond of them, though. I prefer natural wild flowers, azaleas, small flowering trees, and bushes.

Those are all pretty good points, but the first blow to soaps was the OJ Trial which lasted forever and which aired all day every day until it was over. Are there any alternatives to Greyhound bus lines for Michigan?

I'm planning on visiting my friend in Pennsylvania sometime this week or next week and the only available bus schedule they have is for Sunday and that involves a 4 and a half hour layover in Pittsburg which makes my mom nervous so I can't do that. Well my friend called and they told her that's the only one they have avaiable from Michigan to PA through October. So that won't work. Does anyone know of an alternative to Greyhound for my trip? I can't do Amtrak that's too expensive so any other bus lines? Or maybe trying another location in Michigan would help?

For crazy psycho killers, try Tim Dorsey's Serge books. Serge is obsessed with everything Florida, except the people who get in his way of making the Sunshine State truly wonderful. The books are laugh riots and Serge's murders will impress you (definitely more creative than just shootings and stabbings here). Alright, this is a little confusing so bare with me please.. I'm 15 years old, my parents are divorced, i live in Alabama with my mother, my father lives in Georgia. I want to be emancipated as soon as possible. My Boyfriend will be 18 in October and has agreed to let me live with him. To be emancipated i know you must prove you can pay rent, utilities and essentials. I also know you can automatically emancipated in the state of Georgia if married. And you can get married if pregnant at 16 with no parental or court consent.. My boyfriend and i have full intentions of getting married. Yeah, that's definitely short man syndrome, and it's the really awkward type since he behaves like a little girl. Your ex probably had an inferiority complex and was extremely uncomfortable with his height. I'd say you really can't blame him for acting that way, but you definitely didn't have to put up with it - tolerating someone trying to steal your place as the woman in the relationship. Most short guys get over it since they have to man up and stop compensating in petty ways, but he didn't reach that point.
